The attitude towards academia is changing in the Haredi community

 

Two JCT graduates examined the Haredi sector's opinion regarding higher education and found that they differ siginifcantly from that of Haredi leadership, who just this January called thousands of Haredi women to an emergency conference against academia, as well as the opinions previously prevelent in the sector. 62% of those interviewed agreed that there was nothing wrong with combining Torah and employment, and believed that it shows taking responsibility. 72% agreed with the claim that higher education ensures high paying employment, and 72% stated that it is understood that in today's world there is a need for a degree and that it is of the utmost importance. 70% are convinced that the process of integrating Haredim into academia is generally positive.
